About Sound Equine Options
Sound Equine Options was founded in 2009 by an equine veterinarian seeking to address the plight of horses whose owners cannot afford to provide them with basic care.
Here in Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington, as in the rest of the country, the number of unwanted horses and horses not receiving basic care exceeds the resources available to accommodate them. Though there are currently no accurate figures on how many of these horses exist, our research and work with regional animal control officers tells us these numbers are on the rise.
Sound Equine Options strengthens the safety net for horses who desperately need sound options that provide them with the dignity and respect they deserve. Our veterinary-directed programs are based on innovative practices that are successfully addressing the unwanted horse issue nationally, but are targeted specifically at horses in our local region.
